Marce Petroccio enters his 18th season as Head Coach of Staples Football with an overall record of 145 wins and 49 losses. Through leadership and discipline, Coach "P" has established the Staples program as one of the best in the state. The Wreckers won the FCIAC Championship in 1997, the Class MM State Championship in 2002, the FCIAC Championship in 2003, and the Class L State Championship in 2004 and 2005, The FCIAC Championship 2009. The Wreckers have been in the State Championship Game in 6 of the last 8 years, winning 3 titles.  The Wreckers are featured at the New England Football exhibit at the “Hall at Patriot Place”.  The Staples Program can be considered the best in the decade of the new Millennium. The tradition of "Wrecker Pride" is as strong as ever!
 

For his excellence in coaching, Petroccio has received numerous awards and accolades, including being named the 2002 and 2003 FCIAC Coach of the Year. In 2004, Petroccio was honored by the New York Giants as the "Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Year."  In 2007, Petroccio was honored by his peers by being named “Coach of the Year” by CHSCA.  On October 12, 2007, Coach “P” became the all-time winningest Coach in Football at Staples High School with 123 wins in 15 years.
 
Petroccio has also served as a committee member for the American Football Coaches Association for the past three years and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Committee. Petroccio attended Trumbull High School (Trumbull, CT), where he played tight end and defensive end for Jerry MacDougall, "The Dean of Connecticut Football," winning 28 games and losing 3, including a perfect 11-0 senior campaign where the team was ranked #1 in both Connecticut and New England. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at Southern Connecticut State University, where he played for Coach Paul Pasqualoni, who also gave him his first opportunity in coaching in 1982 as the outside linebackers coach at Western Connecticut State University. After serving as a linebackers and defensive backs coach at Western Connecticut, Petroccio assumed the head coaching position at Staples in 1993 and has never looked back!.   In addition to his coaching duties, Petroccio teaches physical education at Staples High School and resides in Ridgefield with his wife Julie and daughters Gianna and Aleah.
